Time spent with God in prayer, bible reading and journaling is never wasted.
We know that we should do it, and we even want to but making the time to do it can be really hard.
It seems especially hard when you're in a busy season of life, or when you're knee deep in the little kid stages.
If you want to make daily quiet times a priority, but find yourself waking up and hitting the ground running, then keep reading because I'm going to share 3 reasons that you'll want to make daily quiet times a top priority.

1. For Wisdom & Direction
As keepers of our homes, we are faced with a multitude of decisions each day.
Some decisions are simple, like what we'll make for dinner or which book we should read to our kids at bedtime.
Other decisions are more difficult, like which 401k plan you should invest in or whether we should get chemotherapy or move an aging parent in with us.
In the midst of those decisions that we face, is a loving God who promises to give us wisdom and direction for the day ahead so that we can walk the right path with confidence.
2. For Patience & Peace
I don't know about you but patience is something that the Lord has certainly taught me through having a family.
As wives and mothers who also teach our kids at home, we are constantly needed in some capacity.
Making meals, listening to problems, breaking up sibling fights, cleaning the house and keeping everyone alive is a tall order that certainly takes a toll on even the sweetest woman.
When we start our day in the presence of the Lord, we are more apt to take on the gentle patience of Jesus.
We may begin to lose our patience only to be quickly reminded of the earlier passage we read where the Lord demonstrated patience.
It is in the choice for patience that we also have more peace.
3. For Strength & Endurance
Physical strength is wonderful but the work of a wife and homeschool mom is a long term commitment that absolutely needs spiritual strength and endurance to be done well.
Unlike the regular 9-5 job that you may have had after high school, our career at home never really ends.
It may look different over the years, but we are always needed and many times it will be at the most inconvenient time.
Our daily quiet times will help us to gain deep strength and endurance that will come in handy during the trials or hardships of life.
Praying for others and reading the stories over and over again of saints that exhibited the Fruits of the Spirit will no doubt help you to keep your eyes fixed above, on eternal things.
In closing, the next time that you opt out of spending quiet time with God, remember what you'll be missing out on and reconsider your priorities.
For His Glory & In His Name,
- Christine
